Playing the same numbers for 10 years finally paid off for LOTTO 6/49 winner Jean-Claude Raiche of Bathurst.

The 71-year-old father and grandfather won over $9 million and was presented with his cheque today at Atlantic Lottery Corp.'s headquarters in Moncton.

The retired mine worker was emotional during the presentation and described what he plans to do with the winnings.

"I'm sure I'm going to help the kids and maybe expect to have a trip later on," a trip for the holidays with all the children and grandchildren, he said.

Raiche said he nearly had a heart attack when he realized he had won the big prize.

Among the numbers he always plays is 43, the year he was born.

"When I saw the first three winning numbers, I thought they looked familiar," he says. "Then I took out my ticket and, well."

The winning ticket was sold at Maurice's Gas and Grocery in Bathurst. The retailer will receive a one per cent seller's prize.
