It started as a light-hearted joke between Charlotte Peart and husband Daniel, and ended happily ever after.

Charlotte, 28, first pranked her husband into thinking she had won £250,000 (US$323k) as a joke. But the joke was on her when Daniel didn't believe that she had won £1 Million (US$1.3M) just three weeks later.

Mrs Peart had matched five numbers on EuroMillions HotPicks in the August 28 draw. She had entered online with the last £1.50 in their online lottery account.

Self-employed carpenter Daniel Peart, 27, did not believe wife and admin worker Charlotte when she called him at work to reveal the million dollar win.

He told her "I can't talk to you right now love," before passing the phone to his brother.

"I didn't believe her at all because we like to wind each other up," said Mr Peart.

The couple have three children and are planning to buy a bigger home in the area.
