ABOUT CALIFORNIA SUPER LOTTO PLUS
The California SuperLotto Plus is a popular lottery game in the style of Mega Millions and Powerball. This game has its roots in 1986 when it began as Lotto 6/49, mimicking the Canadian version of the game.

In the 1990s, it underwent a change to become SuperLotto, featuring a matrix of 6/51. The name was eventually changed to SuperLotto Plus in 2000.

The game involves choosing five numbers from 1 through 47, and one Mega Ball number from 1 through 27, with draws held every Wednesday and Saturday.

The starting jackpot for SuperLotto Plus is set at $7 million (annuitized), and there's an option for jackpot winners to take a cash payout. The annuity option of the SuperLotto Plus is graduated, meaning the payouts increase over time.

Initially, this annuity was structured over 26 payments with the first payment being 2.5% of the annuity value, increasing by 0.1 percentage points each year. However, this structure was modified in 2013.

The current annuity now spans 30 payments, starting at 1.51% of the jackpot amount, with the final payment amounting to more than quadruple that of the first, at 6.20% of the advertised jackpot.

Throughout its history, SuperLotto Plus has undergone several changes, adapting its format, drawing schedule, and prize structure.

This evolution reflects the dynamic nature of lottery games in response to player preferences and market trends.

As a mainstay of the California State Lottery, SuperLotto Plus continues to be a significant contributor to the state's revenue, particularly benefiting public education and community projects.
