Lottery store owner Andy Khalil becomes a millionaire without buying a ticket

Just three days after someone won a massive $1.76 billion in the Powerball lottery in October 2023, officials from the California Lottery showed up at a small store called Midway Market and Liquor.

This wasn't just any visit; they were there to hand over a huge check for $1 million to the store.

Because this little shop, located on Frazier Mountain Park Road in the cozy mountain town of Frazier Park, had sold the winning lottery ticket.

Frazier Park is a quaint spot in Kern County, home to around 2,500 people who either live there all the time or part-time.

The community, now famous for selling the winning ticket, celebrated the store's good fortune.

The owners of Midway Market and Liquor, Chris and Nidal ‘Andy’ Khalil, expressed their appreciation for their loyal Frazier Park community and the lottery team's support.
