I almost gave up all hope of winning - but here's how Lady Luck got me $250,000

It was on a shopping trip to pick up beer for her husband that Isabel decided to make her final decision to play.

She used to play the lottery regularly, but stopped because she never won.

But this day was different, and the Baltimore woman stepped outside the store a quarter million dollars richer after deciding to take a gamble one last time.

Isabel Sandoval, 35, bought three scratch-off cards named Lady Luck without expecting any wins.

However, true to their name, one of the $10 instant cards paid off in a big way.

A delighted Isabel explained: "I actually stopped playing it for a bit because I wasn’t winning much.”

But then Lady Luck came her way. After she arrived home she found that her scratching had uncovered a cash windfall.

“I knew right away it was a winner because I scratched off the horseshoe,” said the elated warehouse worker.

She has plans for the unexpected win that includes spending some money on her mom who lives in Mexico.

Then Isabel will save the rest to benefit her five children and a grandchild.

There was one more winner along with her husband and herself though.

Maryland Lottery officials said that the store she purchased the tickets from is also a winner.

They explained: "The Baltimore City business located at 6400 Eastern Avenue in Baltimore will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling a top-prize winning Lady Luck instant ticket."
