Which lottery winners kiss the most: The reserved Brits or party-lovin' Yanks?

We did an unofficial survey of winning couples receiving their check at lottery headquarters round the world. And our first surprise was how few photos there were of couples kissing.

Of the 330 photos of winning couples we found, only 8 of them had puckered up for the camera. That's just 3% who had kissed for their official lottery photo.

And another surprise - we found photos of only British or American lottery game winners receiving their checks.

There were no other nationalities, and this is because only a few lotteries require their winners to show up publicly. Players in most other games around the world can remain anonymous.

Take a look at a few examples of winner affection in front of the cameras:

More Brits connect - Graham Nield and Amanda Vickers are happily celebrating their £6 million win outside in the UK National Lottery in 2013.   Photo: UK Lottery

Even in 2001 they were kissing for the cameras. Brit winners Thomas and Rita Naylor (left) look awkward on the street, but for £15 million it doesn’t matter.   Photo: UK Lottery

Harold Lerner took the winning check to a new high when he and wife Helen received the Mega Millions jackpot for a massive $258 million.   Photo: Mega Millions

Only two only out of these 10 photos were American lottery winners. This left the eight normally reserved Brits as clear winners in the kissing stakes.

But the question remains - why?

Is it because British photographers are more demanding? But the U.S. paparazzi can be just as aggressive given the chance - just ask any celebrity.

It remains an interesting puzzle!
