I'm an 18-year-old $1 million lottery winner and this is what I'm buying next

A hardworking North Carolina man was on his way to his second job when he stopped to buy a lottery ticket.

Dalton Radford, 18, had left work and stopped in at Will’s Food Store to purchase two Carolina Jackpot tickets, according to the North Carolina Education Lottery.

"I left work and was going to my second job," Radford told the lottery when he claimed his prize check on Tuesday.

The Carolina Jackpot ticket similar to Dalton's winning scratch-offs.

"I stopped for a White Monster drink and two Carolina Jackpot tickets."

The public works employee from Dallas checked the scratch-off tickets while he was in the store’s parking lot and found that he had won $1 million.

“I thought, ‘Hey! I just won $1 million,’” said Radford. “I called my mom, dad, and grandpa. Everyone was happy.”

His grandpa was part of the winning outcome, as he had predicted two weeks earlier that Dalton would win a million-dollar lottery prize.

While Dalton says he would save most of the winnings, he will also use some of the windfall to buy a new brand-new Chevrolet Silverado truck.

The NC Education Lottery said Radford had the choice of two prize options: either take an annuity payment of $50,000 over 20 years, or an immediate lump sum payment of $600,000.
